I’m trying to apply for sponsorship opportunities via GitHub Sponsors, but my account isn’t appearing in the list of eligible or searchable accounts during the application flow.

I’ve already checked the basics:

• GitHub Sponsors profile is set up
• Public repositories are active
• Profile visibility is enabled
• I live in India

Despite this, my account still doesn’t show up where expected.

Looking for clarity on:

• Eligibility requirements that might block listing
• Any approval or review delays on new Sponsors profiles
• Common misconfigurations that prevent accounts from appearing

If there’s a specific checklist or backend approval step I’m missing, calling it out would unblock things fast.

I’ve already searched for similar discussions but couldn’t find a definitive answer.

In India, there are specific compliance and backend steps that often cause a "silent" delay in your profile becoming searchable or eligible.
Even after your profile is "Active," GitHub performs a backend sync.

It typically takes 24 to 48 hours for a newly published Sponsors profile to be indexed in GitHub's internal search and global directory (github.com/sponsors/explore).
Also, GitHub often performs a light manual or automated review for accounts in specific regions (including India) to prevent spam. If your account is very new or has low activity, this review might be holding up the "searchable" status.

Since India is a supported region through Stripe Connect, ensure:
Your Stripe account is fully "Restricted" or "Active." If Stripe is asking for a GSTIN or additional KYC (Know Your Customer) documents, GitHub will keep your profile in a "Draft-like" state.

If more than 48 hours have passed, I think you should contact GitHub Support. Mention specifically that your profile is "Published" but not appearing in the Explore directory. Sometimes a manual flag needs to be cleared by their compliance team for accounts in India.

New GitHub Sponsors profiles are not immediately discoverable. Accounts must complete an internal review and approval process, which may take several days. Until approval is granted, the profile will not appear in sponsorship searches or applications, even if setup appears complete. If the delay persists, contact GitHub Support to verify the status of your Sponsors profile.

Your account won’t appear searchable unless all of these are complete:

1. Sponsors profile fully filled out
2. 2FA enabled
3. Stripe payout + tax info completed
4. You clicked “Request approval”
5. GitHub review approved (can take several days)

Most common issue: payout/tax setup not finished or profile still under review.

If everything looks complete, contact GitHub Support — it’s usually a backend approval delay.
