Annotation Editor not shown upon file reopen

When I click the browser SingleFile icon, the page is shown with the annotation editor, and I can annotate it. However, when I save that file and then reopen it, the annotation editor is not shown, and annotation is not doable. I have SingleFile set to edit the page, as far as I can tell:

Windows 11
Brave 1.84.139
SingleFile 1.22.87

I've attached an html file saved by SingleFile. If I open it with this configuration, I don't see the annotation editor like I did when I first clicked on the icon.

Please make sure "Allow access to file URLs" is enabled in the extension page brave://extensions/?id=mpiodijhokgodhhofbcjdecpffjipkle, see the screenshot below.

Ahah! Thanks, that fixed it.

A couple weeks ago or so, Brave shut down SingleFile, along some other extensions, saying that they were "corrupted." In other extensions, my settings got changed, and maybe this was the case for SingleFile too.

I've now switched from Brave to Chrome, and I see the same problem again. Is the cause the same, and if so, what setting can I change to fix it? I can't find a Chrome option to "Allow access to file URLs" Thanks.
