You can earn GitHub badges (also called achievements) by completing specific actions on the platform. Some common ways to get them:

Arctic Code Vault Contributor – Have code in a public repo that was part of the 2020 GitHub Arctic Vault project.

Pull Shark – Open pull requests.

Galaxy Brain – Get upvotes on your discussions or answers.

GitHub badges can be earned in two main ways: through built-in achievements or by manually adding custom badges to your repositories. I think the easiest way to get GitHub badges is just by being active on the platform. GitHub gives you badges automatically for doing certain things — like merging pull requests (that’s the Pull Shark badge), having people star your repo (Starstruck), or when your discussions or answers help others (Galaxy Brain).
You can also earn badges by taking part in programs like Hacktoberfest or other open-source events. Some communities and organizations create their own contributor badges too.
If you just want to make your profile or repos look cooler, you can even add custom badges using Shields.io
